Toyota Etios Starts Produced in India

New Delhi - Japan's giant automobile manufacturer, Toyota, announced the commencement of production of low-cost sedan Toyota Etios in their factory in Bangalore, India, starting this weekend. It operated factories in India, Toyota Kirloskar Group Kirloskar Motor (TKM) and has a production capacity of approximately 80,000 units per year. With an annual target of roughly 70,000 units, Etios expected to be a supplier of half of the total sales of Toyota in India which reached 145.000 units.
Etios is a model of a reinforced engine sedan 1.5-liter 16-valve DOHC engine with a power 89 hp at 5600 rpm and 132 Nm of torque at 3000 rpm. Smaller engines, 1.2-liter Toyota reportedly also being considered.
Etios currently only available with 5-speed manual transmission. Toyota plans to develop a family with memperkebalkan Etios five-door hatchback model which is named Liva in April 2011. Although low-cost car has been pretty good features like integrated audio controls, Electronic Power Steering (EPS), steering wheel with tilt function, SRS airbags, and Anti-Lock Breaking System (ABS) with EBD.
Toyota produced a vehicle with a local component content of about 70 percent. The plan this figure will be increased to 90 percent in 2013. To achieve these targets Toyota will increase production of some, such as machinery, locally in the fourth quarter of 2012. While the production of transmissions in early 2013. Etios itself is planned to be exported to some of Toyota's potential markets such as China, Brazil and Thailand.
What about Indonesia? PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) is rumored to be testing Etios in 2011. But sources at TAM said if it does not have plans to incorporate such a cheap car to Indonesia.
